Velloor Perunthattu Siva Temple
The Velloor Perunthattu Siva Temple is an ancient temple traditionally regarded as one of the 108 sacred Shiva temples of Kerala. According to local belief and temple tradition, the deity was consecrated by Lord Parashurama, the legendary sage credited with the creation of Kerala. Recognised as one of the oldest Shiva temples in Kottayam District, the temple is an important centre of worship and a significant landmark of the region's spiritual, cultural, and historical heritage.
Thiruvelloor Vamanaswamy Temple (Keevelloor)
The Thiruvelloor Vamanaswamy Temple, located at Keevelloor, is a rare and historically significant temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Vamana. Believed to have been constructed during the 11th century CE, the temple is renowned for its distinctive architecture, having been built entirely of dressed stone. It also preserves historically important Vattezhuthu inscriptions, which provide valuable insights into the region's cultural and historical heritage. The temple stands as an important monument reflecting Kerala's rich religious, architectural, and epigraphical traditions.
